When our balloted races open for entry then you will be able to use your X-Points balance to enter.
You can earn X-Points via any XTRI event - Full XTRIs, XTRI Solo Point Fives, MyXTRI challenges and the XTRI Xperience camps. More points are available for our smaller races. Points are awarded for finishing, not by placing so it’s fair for everyone.
When our balloted races open for entry then you will be able to use your X-Points balance to enter. There will be 100 slots available for holders of X-points for each race.

Choosing Tribe Xtreme will entitle you to a “starting balance” which we have calculated using the following formula (from November 2019*):
Previous XTRI Race Entry 40 points
Previous Prospect Race Entry 25 points
Previous Solo Point Five Race Entry 20 points
Previous MyXTRI Event 10 points
“Valid” Ballot Extra Chance 3 points (these are extra draw tickets you hold (visible in RaceID)
“Used” Ballot Extra Chance 2 points (these were draw tickets you held in the past)
Previous Ballot Entry 1 point (any previous entry to any ballot)
**From January 2024 we will no longer provide 3 points for entering ballots.
This will be assigned to your account when you sign up and will be visible on the list of athletes.
If you raced Formosa, Patagonman or Fodaxman in 2022 you will also be rewarded with 50 X-points for each after you have signed up to the Tribe.
*Data is taken from RaceID since November 2019, we do not hold consistent data for all races before this date. For fairness we cannot allocate points to individuals before November 2019.
** Starting Balance allocation is a semi-automated system and although your points may be visible within a few minutes, it can take up to 48 hours.

WHAT IS XTRI WORLD TOUR?
XTRI World Tour is the original, official and authentic Home of Extreme Triathlon™. It is a series of extreme triathlons around the world with the annual World Championship held at Norseman each August.

X-Points are participation points from XTRI races and products to allow you to enter our over-subscribed races (and to give cool rewards). You earn them by finishing some of the most life-affirming events out there. We do not allocate based on position, all finishers are given the same points. *the exception here is the World Championship at Norseman where the top 5 men and top 5 women are given 50 bonus points.
What is the purpose of the X-POINTS system?
It is designed to make it fairer to get to one of our balloted races, whilst at the same time bringing new audiences to our smaller (but no less exciting) events.
ARE POINTS ALLOCATED/ RANKED FOR FINISHING POSITION?
No, points are given to any finisher regardless of course (eg white or black).
Do I earn points by finishing any XTRI World Tour race?
Yes, all of our XTRI races offer finishing points. Between 100 and 200 depending on the race. We also offer points for XTRI Solo Point Five, MyXTRI and the Xperience training camp.
WHICH RACES OFFER SLOTS FOR ATHLETES HOLDING POINTS?
Currently Norseman, Celtman, Swissman and ICON.
How many slots are available for the X-Points system per race?
We have made 100 slots available for each of the 4 races. If less than 100 are applied for the remaining places will go into the normal ballot.
Can I still enter the XTRI World Tour events through regular registrations or ballots?
Yes of course. If you do not have enough (or any) X-Points there will still be a ballot available to enter. Our other races will have open registrations as usual. You can of course enter a points race via the ballot and keep your points for another race.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I ENTER WITH POINTS BUT AM UNSUCCESSFUL, AM I AUTOMATICALLY PUT INTO THE BALLOT?
No, you will need to manually enter the ballot if you do not receive a points place. The ballots will still be open when you receive your answer on the points application.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY POINTS IF I ENTER THE POINTS SYSTEM AND AM UNSUCCESSFUL?
In this case you will not lose any points from your balance.
IF I WANT TO SAVE MY POINTS FOR A PARTICULAR RACE CAN I STILL ENTER ANOTHER BALLOTED RACE?
Yes you may, simply use the ballot entry option when the races open and if successful you will not lose any points.
WHAT HAPENS IF THERE IS A TIE FOR SLOT NUMBER 100 (EXAMPLE, ATHLETES 100, 101 AND 102 HAVE THE SAME POINTS BALANCE)?
We will then decide whether to accept 99 athletes or 102, this will be individual to the race and demand.
There are 3 different types of registration for the points. What are the main advantages of each?
You can see the comparison table here - the main advantage of our top tier is a Starting Balance which rewards you for your previous XTRI loyalty.
May I apply to have my X-POINTS tracked for free?
Absolutely, we offer a free option. This will allow you to collect points and have them tracked. We do invite you to consider one of our paid options though as for a very small cost we offer significant benefits.
Is there a maximum number of X-POINTS?
No, there is no maximum to the number you can collect.
When does the X-POINT calculation for each year end?
The X-Points calendar runs all year, but you must have earned points before the designated race entry date to be able to use them (For example if Norseman open on October 4th, then points earned before this date would be valid)
HOW LONG ARE MY POINTS VALID FOR?
Depending on which Tribe you choose it will be 2 years, 3 years or unlimited.
How does THE X-POINTS system help me go to Norseman, Celtman, Swissman or icon?
When the races open you will be able to apply for a points slot. The 100 athletes who apply with the highest number of points will be offered a place to race. Those who are unsuccessful will be able to enter the ballot immediately afterwards. Anyone can apply for a points slot but you should use our points listing table to estimate your chances. For example if you are number 45 on the list you will be guaranteed a slot, if you are number 150 it’s worth trying (as not everyone on the list will enter), if you are number 420, it’s unlikely you will be lucky.
How many points will I lose if I am accepted?
Good question! We take the points balance of athlete number 100 on the lucky list. If athlete number 100 has 267 points, then everyone who gets a slot via the points system will lose 267 points from their balance.
can I still use my ballot “extra chances”?
Yes you can, all of your historic tickets (which you can see in your RaceID profile) will still be valid, however you will have to sign up to at least Tribe Entry (FREE) to keep these and have future chances added.
Can I still qualify for Norseman?
Yes, you can still qualify for the XTRI World Championship at Norseman by winning or placing second in a full distance XTRI race, both male and female. In this case you will be offered a slot at the following year’s race.
What about the wildcards - they were cool?
As we have now made this new fairer system, we have reduced the number of Wildcards to 1 per race. This will be randomly allocated to any finisher at the closing ceremony.
How will you allocate slots for women?
We will select the top 15 women from the points list (you may filter our list by gender) and then the next 85 will be in order of points, so we will likely have more than 15% women from points.
Is there any other way to earn X-POINTS except by finishing races?
You can earn points from other XTRI products, for example by taking part in our MyXTRI challenges or by attending one of our training camps. You can also get a starting balance by signing up to Tribe Xtreme and there is an early sign-up bonus of 23 points before March 31st 2023.
WHY DOES THE STARTING BALANCE ONLY GO BACK TO 2019?
We only have consistent data from that November 2019 so that’s the fairest way to allocate the points. We cannot answer individual questions about points before this date.
